Actions Against Skilled Nursing Facilities

Ensuring Skilled Nursing Homes Are Held Accountable

Most people recognize skilled nursing facilities by their more common name, nursing homes. They are supposed to provide the highest standard of care. When they fall short, elderly residents suffer injuries or death. At Stebner & Associates in San Francisco, California, we hold facility owners and their staff accountable.

Do not let your elderly family member fall victim to abusive or negligent staff from a skilled nursing facility. Contact us at 415.362.9800.

Complaints That Result in Nursing Home Injuries and Death

Skilled nursing facilities are supposed to provide continuous skilled nursing and supportive care for patients who cannot care for themselves because of physical, mental or emotional problems. According to a 2001 survey by the National Long Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center, the most frequent complaints against skilled nursing facilities were for the following:

  • Delayed response to or unanswered call lights
  • Lack of respect for residents/poor staff attitudes
  • Problems with care planning/resident assessments
  • Improper handling/accidents
  • Neglected personal hygiene

Your Elderly Family Member's Right to Quality Health Care

At Stebner & Associates, we are dedicated to ensuring quality care for nursing home residents. That includes custodial care (housekeeping, meal service, assistance with personal care and an activity center) and 24-hour inpatient medical care with a medical director, licensed nurses and dietary aides on staff. Regardless of the setting, abuse and neglect can occur.

If you suspect activity that violates California Department of Health Services regulations, you need a seasoned attorney at your side.
