Firm Overview

Passionate Advocates for the Elderly

In 1987, Kathryn Stebner, the founder of Stebner & Associates in San Francisco, filed the first elder abuse lawsuit in California history. Since that time, her commitment to the practice of elder law has grown beyond the confines of her law office.

If you or a family member was a victim of elder abuse that involved bedsores, financial fraud or another form of abuse, contact us at 415.362.9800.

Over 20 Years of Dedication in Fighting Nursing Home Abuse

Since 1985, elder law attorney Kathryn Stebner has been in private practice emphasizing elder abuse and medical malpractice litigation. That passion began early in her life as she was raised in part by her grandparents. Our founder is licensed to practice in both California and Oregon. She is a frequent speaker and author on elder abuse litigation, as well as a law school teacher, mediator and advocate.

Passion Beyond the Practice of Elder Fraud and Abuse

For the past four years, she has been involved in working with a legislative team on issues related to California long-term care, state policies and laws. She is the author of "Practice and Procedures in Actions Against Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly," a chapter in the CEB publication California: Elder Law Litigation, An Advocate’s Guide.

Ms. Stebner also received California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform’s Legal Advocacy Award in 2001 for recognition of her efforts on behalf of California long-term care residents.

Convenience for Clients Victimized by Nursing Home Abuse

At Stebner & Associates, we offer a free initial consultation at our office on Powell and Market Street that is accessible to all public transportation. If you cannot make an appointment during our office hours, we can meet with you after-hours or on the weekend.
